Elbie was recommended by the previous owner of our house, who owned a long case clock. We moved almost 2 years ago but have finally got around to setting up our old clocks after a lot of building work. Elbie came over a few weeks ago and took two of our clocks away for repair. One was a long case and one a wall clock. Both were very old and the long case needed a lot of work. Elbie was excellent at keeping us informed and consulting us about how far we wanted to go with repairs on the long case, which needed a lot of expensive parts. We agreed a sensible compromise which meant that the clock would run, without the strike. Elbie came over today with both clocks and ensured they were running properly before he left. He is also going to take another long case clock for repair in a couple of weeks' time, when he has room in his workshop! We have found Elbie a pleasure to deal with. He clearly loves clocks and is extremely knowledgeable. He is also completely open and transparent about costs; he gave us really good advice on just how much it is worth spending on old clocks. We feel fortunate to have come across Elbie at Evantime.

He made missing parts, including a particularly intricate and delicate catch, set up and tuned the clock and it now runs beautifully. I inherited a Grandfather clock that had been in my family for generations and was in a very sorry state. It hadn’t worked for over 10 years, suffered from years of dodgy central heating and poor attempts at repairs by various family members over the last hundred years. The guys at Evantime came around to assess the clock and were very upfront that the repair cost was more than the current value of the clock, but as it’s a family heirloom, I went ahead and am so happy with the result! It now looks amazing, all shiny and clean; the cracks filled, wood repaired and polished, plus there’s brass bits I didn’t realise were brass because they were completely black before. The clock is now in very good working order and also tells the date. I’m so happy and also grateful for the promise of aftercare as I’m new to owning a working old clock, and it should stay working for generations to come. Thank you.
